How to Use Sherwin Williams Natural Linen for the Exterior of Your Home

Many of my customers choose Sherwin-Williams' Natural Linen (SW 9109) as the main exterior paint color for your home. This shade is a warm, creamy beige that complements a wide range of architectural styles. It also pairs well with a variety of trim colors. Like Alabaster (SW 7008)...it just works!

Here are a few Sherwin-Williams colors that would work well as trim colors for a house painted in Natural Linen:

1. Antler Velvet (SW 9174): This shade is a warm, earthy brown that complements Natural Linen's warm undertones. It works particularly well for homes with natural wood accents, such as a wooden front door, trellises, or shutters. It’s probably the safest darker brown selection choice, and will work in many, many situations…you can’t go wrong here.

2. Westhighland White (SW 7566): This crisp, clean white pairs beautifully with Natural Linen. It adds a fresh, modern touch to the exterior of the home and works well for trim, window frames, and other architectural details.

3. Enduring Bronze (SW 7055): This deep, rich brown shade creates a striking contrast with Natural Linen. It works particularly well for homes with stone or brick accents, as it helps tie in those natural elements. Here’s a great example of this look in action:

4. Peppercorn (SW 7674): This dark gray shade is becoming more and more popular. It’s a bold choice for trim, but it can look stunning when paired with Natural Linen. It’s very neutral, meaning it’s not particularly warm or cool in nature, and is pairable with both. It adds depth and drama to the exterior of the home and works particularly well for homes with a more modern or industrial aesthetic. This could also be an interesting accent color for a door if you decide to go with another trim color.

Other Sherwin-Williams colors that would work well as trim colors for a house painted in Natural Linen include:

- Urbane Bronze (SW 7048): This deep, dark gray-brown shade creates a sophisticated, timeless look when paired with Natural Linen.

- Pure White (SW 7005): This bright white shade is a classic choice for trim and creates a crisp, clean look when paired with Natural Linen. If you’re looking at Westhighland White, this is worth a comparison.

- Black Fox (SW 7020): This deep, rich brown-black shade creates a dramatic contrast with Natural Linen and can add a touch of elegance to the exterior of the home.

There are many Sherwin-Williams colors that would work well as trim colors for a house painted in Natural Linen. It’s one of the most versatile colors out there today. Consider your home's architectural style, natural surroundings, and personal style when selecting the perfect trim color to complement your main exterior paint color.
